Situé à seulement 60 km de Palm Springs (soit 1 petite heure de route), Joshua Tree National Park peut sans problème faire l'objet d'une excursion sur la journée. Néanmoins, passer une nuit dans le désert est une expérience assez chouette et permet de profiter des paysages au lever & au coucher du soleil, autrement dit au moment où la lumière est la plus belle, et de se balader dans les environs. A l'intérieur du parc, le camping est la seule option (réserver à l'avance via : www.recreation.gov), mais les environs comptent plusieurs hôtels / motels sympas et, surtout, regorgent de cabanes et autres logements atypiques à louer.
